King Cobra

A juvenile king cobra.

The King Cobra is the world's longest venomous snake, which specialises in preying on other snakes, which is does almost exclusively. However, it is known to hunt other animals when its usual prey becomes scarce, including birds, rodents, and lizards. When it does so, it very occasionally constricts its prey, saving its extremely lethal venom for more ideal prey or for potential predators. Because of its diet of other snakes, it often leaves its nest before the chicks hatch, in order to avoid preying on them once they do. In addition, it is immune to many kinds of snake venom, including that of its own species.
