An ant.

Insects are invertebrates in the class Insecta, with more than a million species scientifically recorded and between 6 and 9 million extant species estimated, making it the largest order in the animal kingdom.

Insects are mostly small, with the largest individuals only reaching around 15cm in length. They have six limbs as adults, in addition to an exoskeleton for protection.

The feeding habits of insects vary considerably between the classis. There are carnivorous, herbivorous and nectarivorous species, in addition to a surprisingly large number of hematophagous species as well. Some are parasites.
